Now Answers to Charity Auction Events Questions
Resolved Question: Does anyone have an example of an letter they have written for requests for silent auction items?
I am in charge of getting silent auction items for a charity event. I have never written a letter like that before so I need help. Also if anyone knows of any free websites that might have examples of fundraising letters. moreVoting Question: Poll: Charity auction for a rescue?
I am putting together a fundraiser for a non-profit rescue in my area. We're having a silent auction, hors doeuvres, and a couple of guest speakers. The caterer brought up a good point: If we're asking dog and cat people to buy tickets for this event (since it's dog and cat related) what other things are dog and cat people typically interested in? If we can nail that down, then we can expand out to more than just dog and cat people for the fundraiser. SO, animal lovers: What other things are you interested in, such as coffee, gourmet food, jogging, etc? moreResolved Question: What to wear to a charity gala?
I'm going to a fundraising/awards gala held by a volunteer center in Alabama in a few weeks, and I don't know what I should wear. It's on a Friday evening (7-11) at a Holiday Inn. I've never been to Alabama and am from the north. Here's a description: "Held in June, the event features live and silent auctions, delicious hors d'oeuvres, and of course, the much anticipated awards presentation." What color should I wear? How fancy should my dress be? moreVoting Question: If I run a charity auction and receive $50,000 for a charity is it tax deductible on my end?
Let's say I run a charity event and raise $50,000 for a certain charity. All of the money goes to the charity. Do I get to take a $50,000 tax deduction or do only the guests that donate get the benefit? moreResolved Question: Need Fundraiser event ideas?
I'm on a committee for my office in which we plan 2 weeks of fundraising events to benefit local charities every year. We are always looking for new and fun events that can be done (preferably with low cost to the company). In the past we have done lunches such as tacos or potato bar; Jail lock in - where secretaries and staff must be bailed out by the boss if they want them to work; Auctions - silent and live; karaoke party; mini golf tournament around the office, etc... Does anyone have any fun event ideas that would produce profits and be fun for everyone??? moreResolved Question: What do you think was the REAL reason behind Donald Trump's selection of Joan Rivers as Celebrity Apprentice?
Sunday, May 10, 2009 10 pm Central Donald Trump just made it official. Even though Poker Champion Annie Dukes raised approximately 3 times as much money for charity in the final Celebrity Apprentice challenge (over $400,000 to Joan's approximate $150,000), he still picked Joan Rivers as the winner. There were 5 criteria in the final challenge such that 4 were subjective and only 1 based on real numbers / money raised. Rivers won 3 of those 5 challenges, but Annie Dukes won more weekly challenges over the entire season which was the range of consideration called upon in the mind of Donald Trump who made the final decision. Rivers acted so rudely to the event coordinators in the final challenge, they quit by the time that Annie Dukes even arrived on the scene, causing both Dukes and Rivers to have to scramble for replacements to design and decorate their rooms from which they would hold their final charity event and silent auctions. Rivers also called Dukes worse than Hitler, told her that her friends from Vegas were all in the mafia, and that Dukes was such trash she was far beneath Rivers. And Melissa Rivers chimed in with her calling Dukes a whore, a beeyatch, and many other names. In light of all this, Trump still awarded Rivers the win. Why? Might it have had anything to do with the better-known name of Joan Rivers and the ratings he thought she brought? What do you think of Donald Trump now in the aftermath of this decision? moreResolved Question: Who do you think will be the Celebrity Apprentice?

We are having a charity silent auction event where there will be alcohol in the auction items. We want to make sure we're not breaking any laws. The event is located in Rhode Island. We are having a charity silent auction event where there will be alcohol in the auction items. We want to make sure we're not breaking any laws. I purchased tickets for "my best friend" and I to attend a function. It was important to me, as it was a charity auction sponsored by my work. On the day of the event, she called three times, the last to ask me directions. Then, ten minutes before she was to arrive, she texted me with the message that "she was sorry, but she was sick, and unable to come." Now, she will not answer her phone. Should I assume that she is so "sick" that she cannot even answer the phone, or did she simply "blow me off," and is now afraid that I am mad? Oh, did I mention that she has lied before? Well, maybe not an outright lie, but she has a problem with "leaving out important details," and thus has a problem with "the whole truth and nothing but the truth." Thanks for reading this. moreResolved Question: How to stop feeling sad all the time?
For the past few weeks, I've started feeling progressively sadder. I've had a few disappointments over the past few weeks, including that my husband would not dance with me at a formal, a musician friend of mine promised to perform with me and cancelled five days before the concert, another friend said that she would go with me to a charity auction, but keeps making hints that she doesn't want to go (and will most likely call me the day before and cancel), and my husband never feels like kissing or having sex (although we have been married just a few months). On top of this, I have a lot of stress from law school and family problems. I know that some disappointments are normal, and I normally wouldn't get so upset, but now I take everything hard. For example, I couldn't find anything to wear to the charity event, so I got so upset that I started to cry. I got upset the other day when the printer wouldn't work. My husband tries to be supportive, but he gets mad at me because he says that I'm sad all the time and nothing will make me happy. The bad part is, I realize this, but I can't change the way I feel, even if I try. I exercise to relieve stress, but now it doesn't even work. I usually cry myself to sleep, and I've lost interest in the things I like to do. When I don't have any homework to do, I get upset because I don't know what to do. This is so frustrating. I don't have the money to see a doctor, and I talk to a counselor, but it doesn't help. Actually, talking about my problems makes me even more sad. I'm not suicidal or anything. I'm just sad. moreResolved Question: Seeking fund raising ideas for during casino charity events?
We plan to hold several casino themed charity fund raising events and while the majority of funds will come from admission ticket sales, I know that we can do other things during the event to raise funds. For example, we can do 50/50 drawings and silent auctions. Does anyone have any other ideas that could be done during the casino event to further increase funds raised? Thanks in advance. moreResolved Question: Is there any way I'll get out of this parking ticket, or should I not even waste the time?
So I was driving around downtown in the business district today (I live in a small to mid-sized city) collecting donations from from area businesses for a charity silent auction being put on as part of an event at our university this weekend. I had been leaving my car running because I'd only taken two minutes or so to run into the past few businesses I'd been at and pick up their donations. So I parked in a handicapped spot in front of one store and left my car running to run inside, but I was in for a little longer than usual, still probably under 10 minutes, then ran back out. And I got a $200 for being in the handicapped spot. I'm really flaming pissed. Is it possible a judge might waive it, or should I just not waste my time? What a load of sh*t, especially considering I see non-handicapped people occupying handicapped spots all the time. I don't mean to be a jerk about handicapped people, but it's not like I was in the store buying something for myself or trying on clothes or something.Um. This is probaby like the second time ever I've parked in a handicapped spot for any reason. The charity I'm working for is the city children's home. I love how people act high and mighty even when you're trying to do something good for other people when they wouldn't do such a thing themselves. The state and this country are such hypocrites about handicapped people; they'll set aside parking spots so the state can rake in cash from them, even though I'm sure the parking spots hardly help people at all as much as some other programs might, then spend basically crap on, say, making buildings wheelchair friendly, or giving kids with special needs better educations. I know people don't think about things like that.Uh, "don't buy" the charity thing? Are you people high? I wouldn't even be asking this question if I was in fact in the store "buying shoes" for myself. I would not have been in the store or parked in the spot in the first place if I was not collecting a donation. Wow. I will pay it now, no doubt. But thanks anyway for being douches. moreResolved Question: Do you think it is right for an employer to demand that employees attend charity events?
My company always demands that we attend charity events, (walk-a-thons, auctions, ect) even on our days off but there is nothing in our job descriptions that require it. a. Vince Vaughn talks a mile minute b. Auctioneers talk a mile a minute c. We have a match! I'm picturing a movie where Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are the usual blue-collar, scrambling, paycheck-to-paycheck auctioneers. Their job is working in a dusty ole warehouse selling boring old household krahp day in and day out in some sleepy podunk town. Then, over the usual depressing night of beers in some sh*t-h*le dive, they hatch a brilliant plan to go James Brown international with their talents. They decide to take the charity events where they auction off well-known volunteers of the community and go straight to pimpville all while trying to keep a comedic and legit face to it all. Naturally, things get better and better. The booty gets hotter and hotter. The cars and houses get big and brighter. Then, as expected, they phuque it all up in the end! What do you think? Does it work? Any ideas for scenes? Thank you! moreResolved Question: What are the rules of a charity people auction?

..Some of my art prints will be auctioned. What is an appropriate percentage to donate? 10% ? 20% ?Wow I had no idea, the 100% is not a problem at all. I am working on a volunteer project for a friend of mine's charity event. I am making bidding sheets and informational tent cards for her silent auction. I am making the bidding sheets front and back using a panel method and the tent cards are one sided- one for each silent auction item up for bid. The charities colors are blue and white. I picked up blue card-stock and vellum paper. I plan to print on the vellum, which I have already tested, and the ink and the two graphics come out fine. I plan on giving her a sharpie marker for the actual auction, as pen doesn’t really come out well on the vellum, although you can use a pen or a gel pen. I made a sampling up for her with different margins, paneling effects and so on, and I used rubber cement to glue the vellum to the card-stock. I had hoped that once the rubber cement was dry that it wouldn’t show through, but it did. I am hoping someone has an idea of what kind of glue I can use to keep the vellum in place on the card-stock without showing through and where I can get it. I really want this to look like it was professionally done to help draw higher bids for the silent auction next month. I am usually the one who works things up on the computer and hands it off to others for the final product, but she asked me to do the printing, so the advice you all have would be VERY helpful! Thanks so very much to anyone who might be able to help!I am looking for the glue to not show through the vellum...... moreResolved Question: How can I get people to donate?

Each year I run an event in victoria to raise money for a Charity. It is getting increasingly harder to source items I can auction off. I am in desperate need of a travel package I can raffle on the night. Does any one have any ideas how I may be able to go about this? moreResolved Question: Do you and your family give time to charity?
Because classes were off this week, the PTA had a Family Fair on the school grounds to raise funds for a local child who was in a serious car accident. So I took our two children to Family Day, and it was set up nicely. There were Chinese auctions, a dunking tank and a three-legged race pitting parents against kids. Because my wife is an attorney in the middle of a big federal trial, she couldn't attend, but that was okay as I was able to still participate in the three-legged race with our au pair (we came in second -- to my kids!). What bothered me was how few parents actually took time out of their days to do this charity event. I say, tops, there were two-dozen parents and kids there from a school that has 400 kids! I'm a well-established local artist and did donate one of my works to the Chinese auction, but noticed it only gathered about 50 tickets. The lady who won it got a steal! While I know many parents, like my wife, work hard, why don't more help the needy? moreResolved Question: How much is too much to pay for Charity event tickets?
If you were going to an evening to raise money for Charity. the evening (on a Satrday night 7pm-12am) included, finger food, free cocktail on arrival, giveaway bags full of samples, info and gifts, raffles, auctions, door prizes, a DJ, discounted drinks etc how much would you pay to buy a ticket to the event? The Charity is "The Cancer Council's Girls Night In" raising funds for womens cancers. Funds raised, go to research, prevention, advocacy, information and support programs aimed at reducing the impact of cancer. moreResolved Question: Trivia Night?
Okay, I'm having a heated argument with a few parents about a trivia night silent auction. We were hosting a trivia night for my senior class to go on a trip to New York. Keep in mind that this is NOT a charitable event and that the money just goes in our pockets. We live in a small town where most families are lower or middle class. For the silent auction, students are getting baskets together that have a theme. Ex) Someone is doing movie night and putting movie tickets, popcorn, candy, etc. Someone is making a tie-fleece blanket that costs about $10 to make Some people want the silent auction to be a real silent auction. Where you have a min. bid and then people keep bidding. Others think we should do a raffle. People buy how ever many $2 tickets and put them in a can next to the basket. At the end, there would be a drawing. The silent auction consists of mostly junk...it's not the normal stuff you see at charity event like TV's, trips, boats, etc. Which is a better idea? moreResolved Question: Selling an item on ebay?
Okay, so if I sell an item on ebay and someone buys it, how do I get the money? I'm putting up an item and putting the requirement of paypal to bid on the item. How does paypal give me the money? Do they send it to me over the mail and give me cash? I looked on the site and it has given me some ideas but I am not positive. This is what I found on the site on the request money page; Receive secure, instant payments for auctions Send a payment request to a customer Receive charity donations Collect money for a group gift, an event, or a dinner bill So yeah, I also looked on the Send money page and found Send money to family and friends. Pay for goods and services. Pay for an eBay item. I understand how you use your credit card to buy the item, but how does the seller receive the cash? moreResolved Question: What is the most successful fund raising auction item?

Thanks to everyone! moreResolved Question: Please, people who like country, rodeos or experienced djs?
we have a charity event coming next week and there's going to be a rodeo with an auction taking place during the recess. We are all volunteers and need music that can help us cheer people so they bid more, but it still has to be country. Any ideas for happy, upbeat country songs? Do you think playing an electro tune or two is out of place? moreResolved Question: Prostitute auctions sex for charity -Chairty Begins in The Brothel??
Wed Nov 28, 3:37 PM ET SANTIAGO (Reuters) - A Chilean prostitute has auctioned 27 hours of sex to raise money for the country's largest charity during an annual fund-raising campaign. Maria Carolina became an overnight celebrity in the conservative Roman Catholic country, making news headlines and appearing on talk shows since she made her unusual donation to the televised charity event, which runs for 27 hours starting on Friday evening. "I've already auctioned off the 27 hours of love," Maria Carolina told Reuters on Wednesday, saying she had raised about $4,000. "One of my clients already paid. It seemed like a good deed to him." Adult prostitution is legal in Chile. Chile's two-day Teleton fundraiser is endorsed by television stars and aims to raise funds for poor, disabled children.Speaking about Maria Carolina's unusual donation, campaign organizer Mario Kreutzberger said he would not encourage "immoral" activities, but said he would accept her pledge. "Everyone can do what they want, but if someone tells me that they'll do something immoral ... I'm not going to encourage it," Kreutzberger, who as "Don Francisco" hosts the long-running "Sabado Gigante" program on the U.S. Spanish-language Univision network, told local media. But Maria Carolina, who advertises her services on the Internet, defended her money-raising scheme. "There are people who are going to be donating money that's a lot more questionable than mine," she said. "The only thing I did was publicize it." http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20071128/od_nm/prostitute1_dc moreResolved Question: How do i solve this math problem?!? 10 points to best answer!!?
Instead of going Trick-or-Treating on Halloween this year, six friends decided to use their time to carve pumpkins for a local charity event. The artistically carved pumpkins were auctioned at the event and much to everyone's surprise they raised $180 for the charity! The final bid on Selena's pumpkin was $10 more than the final bid on Ty's pumpkin. Ty's, Niko's, and Corrine's pumpkins each earned the same amount. Araceli's and Forrest's pumpkins each brought in the same amount of money as Selena's. What were the final bids on the individual pumpkins carved by the six friends? 10 points 4 best answer!! =] moreResolved Question: Going to an auction event and don't know what to wear.?
It is an annual event held for charity, but this is the first time I am going. I am the only woman in my office and I was told it was business attire. Some of our corporate partners will be at the event and it is important to impress them. Any suggestions/links would be helpful. Thanks! more
